The Misfits! |
||
"I remember Halloween" Although the scrawled logo of New Jersey's Misfits adorns the leather jackets of many a punk kid, most of these kids were barely even born when the infamous Glenn Danzig and his pals launched the seminal hardcore outfit in the late '70s. Born out of the fabled CBGB's scene, the Misfits co-opted the goth fashion of bands like The Damned and Siouxsie and the Banshees and created a gore-punk hybrid that continues to inspire contemporary artists like Marilyn Manson and GWAR. With songs like "Mommy, Can I Go Out and Kill Tonight?," Danzig's Misfits stripped away the political baggage of punk and pushed its anti-fashion stance in a truly tasteless direction. A reformed (Danzig-less) incarnation of the band took to the road again in 1996, and many old punks dug their stiff leather jackets out of mothballs to join the conflagration. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
