The Sex Pistols! |
||
"Nevermind the Bollocks, here come the Sex Pistols!" Originally formed in 1972, U.K., by Steve Jones and Paul Cook, the Sex Pistols gave English teenagers a vent for their pent-up rage and angst. Eventually joined by Warwick Nightingale formed The Strand. Jimmy Mackin and Steve Hayes augmented the original line-up while instruments and equipment were provided or, more practically, stolen by Jones. Glen Matlock later joined as a bass player, with John Lyndon(aka Johny Rotten) rounding out the line-up as vocalist. Their first single was to be "God Save The Queen". Unfortunatly, Cook, Jones, and Matlock departed during 1978, and afterwards the band went downhill. Of course, the famous Sid Vicious (real name John Simon Ritchie) joined and played bass for the highlight of the 'Pistols career. Having released over 30 albums, tapes, and cd's, the Sex Pistols stand as one of the pioneering Punk bands.
